Frequently Asked Questions
Why is waxing one of the best methods of hair removal?
Waxing removes the hair directly from the follicle rather than cutting it at the surface like shaving. With regular waxing every 4–6 weeks and no shaving in between, the hair follicle can gradually weaken over time. This often results in finer, softer, and sparser regrowth, making future waxing appointments more comfortable.
Most clients enjoy smooth skin for approximately 2–3 weeks between appointments, without the need for daily shaving or worrying about stubble.
How do I prepare for my first wax?
For the best waxing results, we recommend avoiding shaving for at least 10–14 days before your appointment to allow enough hair growth for effective removal.
Helpful preparation tips include:
Stay well hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment
Exfoliate gently 3–4 times per week and again 24 hours prior to your appointment
Avoid applying heavy lotions or oils on the day of your wax
If desired, you may take Panadol 30–40 minutes before your appointment to help minimise discomfort
If you have particularly sensitive skin, allergies, skin conditions, or any medical concerns, we recommend consulting your doctor or healthcare professional prior to commencing waxing treatments.
Most importantly — relax and breathe. First-time nerves are completely normal, and we are here to make your experience as comfortable as possible.
Waxing Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential for achieving the best results and maintaining healthy skin.
For the first 48 hours after waxing, we recommend avoiding:
Excessive sweating or exercise
Hot baths, spas, saunas, and pools
Tight clothing that may cause friction
Sexual activity in waxed intimate areas
Freshly waxed follicles remain open for a short period after treatment, and friction, heat, and bacteria can increase the risk of irritation, breakouts, or folliculitis.
In some cases, you may notice tiny pinpoint spots of blood immediately after waxing. This can occur because the hair is attached to a small blood supply within the follicle. Mild spotting is completely normal, temporary, and more common in coarse or deeply rooted hair.
After 48 hours, once sensitivity has settled:
Begin regular exfoliation using a gentle physical or chemical exfoliant
Avoid harsh loofahs or rough washcloths
Moisturise daily to keep the skin hydrated and reduce ingrown hairs
Consistent waxing appointments every 4–6 weeks, combined with proper aftercare, provide the best long-term results.
Can I get waxed while on my period?
Yes — absolutely. Waxing during your menstrual cycle is completely normal and very common.
We simply ask that you wear a tampon or menstrual cup during your appointment. Please note that some clients may feel more sensitive during this time, so you may choose to take Panadol 30–40 minutes beforehand if needed.
If you choose to cancel due to your cycle, our cancellation policy will still apply, as waxing while menstruating is safe and permitted.
Pregnancy and Waxing
If you are pregnant, congratulations!
Waxing during pregnancy is generally considered safe; however, we always recommend obtaining approval from your doctor before booking any treatment.
Hormonal changes during pregnancy can increase skin sensitivity, so we often suggest maintaining regular waxing appointments throughout pregnancy rather than waiting until the final weeks before birth. Clients who wax consistently during pregnancy typically achieve more comfortable treatments and better results.
Please note that skin can be more reactive during pregnancy, and sensitivity may vary from person to person.
How long do waxing results last?
Most clients experience smooth skin for approximately 2–3 weeks following a wax.
Because hair grows in different stages, it can take approximately 5–8 consistent waxing appointments every 4 weeks, with no shaving in between, to achieve the cleanest and most even results.
If you are preparing for a special occasion, holiday, or event, we recommend beginning your waxing routine at least 2–3 appointments in advance for optimal smoothness.
Does waxing hurt?
Waxing can cause mild temporary discomfort, particularly during your first few appointments. However, many clients find that discomfort decreases over time as the hair becomes finer and weaker with regular waxing.
If you are concerned about sensitivity, you may take Panadol 30–40 minutes before your appointment.
How old do I need to be to receive waxing services?
Clients under 18 years of age require parental or guardian consent before receiving any waxing treatment.
A parent or guardian must attend the first appointment to complete consent forms and discuss treatment suitability. We commonly provide waxing services for younger clients and strive to ensure all treatments are performed professionally, comfortably, and age-appropriately.
